OWASCO Area

Welcome to the Owasco Area's official Website. Owasco is geographically located 10 km east of Toronto, Ontario and draws membership from the communities of Ajax, Claremont, Greenwood, Pickering, Uxbridge and Whitevale. There are approximately 1,000 adult and youth members represented by 20 individual groups making Owasco one of the largest areas in Canada.
Scouting is co-ed and we are currently accepting membership applications for boys and girls ages 5 and up. Adult participation is very important for the ongoing success of our programs and we welcome adults to make an application for membership. To reach us, please email scoutsowasco@hotmail.com.
Please see our new Brief History of Scouting in Owasco assembled by our own Scouter John Earley

Volunteer Opportunities: The Owasco Area Service Team has opportunities for enthusiastic, capable and motivational people. These folks may already be Scouters or may be parents or other supporters of Scouting in Owasco who are interested in becoming valuable members of the Owasco Service Team.

Owasco Area has the largest Area membership in White Pine Council with currently close to 1000 youth members and Leaders. Owasco Area grew in numbers slightly during the 2010-11 year, ending up with 100.3% of the previous year’s membership total. As I’m sure you know, many Scouters work behind the scenes to help your Groups and ultimately our Area thrive and grow. Some of these postings are for roles which recently became vacant and some are newly created roles to effectively support our 1000+ youth and leaders and follow the Scouting Now initiative from Scouts Canada.
